I got inspired after seeing some long exposure night shots and decided go over the lumber and mulch yard across the street. I thought this one came out kind of neat. The mulch heats up all day in the sun and when the temps drop at night it steams. The mulch pile is being lighted by the street lights about 200 feet away. I was happy to be able to get some stars in there even though there was so much light pollution.
Woke at 5am this morning to catch sunrise in Cohasset. Plenty of time to get there find a good spot and get set up. Halfway there I realized I forgot my damn tripod back home!!!! Sped home, got tripod, sped to Cohasset just as the colors were getting close to peaking. Had to scramble over the slippery rocks with all my gear till I found a good spot. 2 hours in the cold wind with my 800 fill down jacket and rabbit fur hat alternating which hand I defrost in my pocket while recomposing shots and clicking away. Enjoyed every minute of it.
In the end I was pretty happy with this one. Another beautiful morning spent appreciating the little things in life.
I hope you enjoy todays photo.
Sometimes all you have to do is look out the front door to find something cool to take a picture of. Last night I thought the clouds looked good and decided to do a long exposure shot of my street. The star bursts on the street lights are just an added bonus from the aperture I was shooting at.
Brant Rock. Marshfield, MA
Got up at 4am today to try and catch sunrise out at Brant Rock. This was in the first series of shots that I took as the light was just starting to warm the horizon. Had to do a 16 minute exposure to get enough light and get the nice glassy water and in turn got a few streaky stars by the tower. Very cold and windy morning. Thank god (and Jessica) for my down filled rabbit fur hat, Sierra Designs Dry Down jacket, wool socks, and hand warmers. Nice relaxing morning enjoying the beauty of the world at work.
