Barcelona part 1

Jess and I kick off our great Spain adventure on Sunday Sept 13th in Barcelona. We spend 4 days in the La Ramblas district checking out tapas bars, learning about the historical architecture, and trying to adjust to the time and culture difference.

We take a very overcrowded bus (the driver didn't even make us pay because it was so full) to the Castle de Montjuic where they are having a fountain lighting ceremony.
Thousands of locals pour into the plaza and courtyard to catch a view of the fountains and castle being lit up.

We also take a trip to Park Guell to explore the creative and colorful architecture of Gaudi. Along with some cool photos I also got a chance to play a percussion instrument I have always loved. The Hang ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_(instrument) )

To experience more authentic culture we decide to do our grocery shopping at the local Boqueria (an open food market)

We take a terrible tour of Barcelona on the Barcelona Touristic Bus (don't do it! seriously the worst 52 euro ever spent ) and end up taking a 2 mile walk up to the Tibidabo (The Temple de Sagrat Cor. built in 1806. Also the highest point in Barcelona). Great view of the whole city.

We spend a lot of time just walking around the city, sampling the foods and drinks and enjoying the local street performers (including a guy singing opera which was amazing).

on our last day in town I wake up at 5am and head out to get some night shots of the city with no crowds.
I get a great shot of the Catedral De Barcelona, some nice narrow alleyways, and a photo of La Ramblas without anyone on it which is amazing since this street is pretty much constantly jam packed with what feels like half of Spain.

Its Wed Sept 16th and we are leaving Barcelona and heading high into the Pyrenees mountains to a little town called Torla.

See you there
